Confirmation of St. Joseph and St. Kevin students
A MIGHTY WIND
On May 12, a mighty wind in the person of Bishop William Bullock, Bishop Emeritus of Madison, confirmed 13 young men and women from St Kevin and St Joseph parishes.
Like good aged wine, Bishop Bullock, went down well, challenging yet befriending all of us to be the captain of our own ship with the help of the Holy Spirit avoiding the rocks society and the media place in our way. At 83, the bishop spoke for 40 minutes straight, standing and clinging to his crossier. Must be his two years in the Navy!
We can all be proud of how our youth prepared for and conducted themselves Wednesday evening, participating in the Liturgy. Their teachers, Dave Pardoe and Diane Andraska, merit congratulations. Special recognition goes to Corey Colburn and the SJ choir. Their communion song was dynamite! The servers were outstanding. In fact, John Philipp the bishop's assistant told me our servers were among the best he's ever dealth with: "They knew what they were doing!".
The presence of eight 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, forming the honor guard was icing on the cake. Thanks to our sacristan, Shirley, and Jan who prepared the reception, Bonnie Pfaff and Denise Cook for their adminstrative support. Thanks also to the concelebrating priests: Fr. McInnis, Fr. Wagner, Fr. Dioka, and Fr. Pace.
Diane Andraska summed it up best: "What a beautiful, spiritual Confirmation, like it should be. So holy! I was overcome with excitement for the students and families. I saw a number of tears in Church last night." I couldn't be a prouder pastor!
