St. Joseph's Parish

P.C.C.W.

The St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women is an affiliate organization of the National Council of Catholic Women.  As an affiliate of the NCCW, we share the same standards:

  • A voice for American Catholic women today
  • Transforming the world through prayer and action
  • Unites more than 5,000 affiliated Catholic women's groups in the United States
  • Supports social action through Gospel values
  • Trains Catholic women to become leaders at the intersection of Church and society
  • Provides a forum for Catholic women to speak and act on matters of mutual interest
  • Represents U.S. Catholic women in national and international arenas

As our mission statement points out, the St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women acts through its membership to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership and service.

Under the direction of and accompanied by the educational materials  from our council commissions:  church, organization, legislative, family, community, and international concerns, we are able to respond with Gospel values to the needs of the Church and society.  In the last article written by our former president, Jan Eckles, it was clearly stated how St. Joseph's PCCW played an important part in responding to the needs of the Church and society.  With your help and dedication we have been able to give monetary gifts to Buckets For Hunger, Community Thanksgiving Dinner, St. Claire Mission, Casa Hogar, Madonna Plan, Interfaith Caregivers, Black River Hospice, Boys & Girls Club, Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Jackson County WI Right to Life, and offer scholarships to some of our graduating seniors.  We have served meals to families that are experiencing health issues, and held prayer services and morning ! of reflections for the women of our parish.  The future will hopefully hold more spiritual enrichment for our ladies and also time of just having fun during our meetings.

All ladies of St. Joseph's Parish are members of the Council of Catholic Women.  This is YOUR organizaton.  You can be proud of its accomplishments.  If you are able, won't you come to one of our meetings and share your ideas with us?  The meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.  Please check the Sunday bulletin for more information.  Thank you, ladies, and God bless you for all that you do.

Parish Council of Catholic Women Update

  • Written by Jan Eckles

Dear Ladies of St. Joseph,

As I am writing this note, it is sleeting outside and quite cold. I think that because Easter was so early this year, we are even more anxious to see nicer weather and start participating in outdoor activities. After such a long, snowy winter we need Spring! May I remind you to think of how Jesus kept his faith in our Lord throughout His life and through the pain He suffered on the cross – knowing that all things would be good again. Spring will come!

We have had a busy year. Just this past weekend, we served over 200 at the REA Dinner, celebrated St. Joseph’s Feast Day after each Mass and participated in a celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday with a video and special prayers.

We continue the Prayer Network and invite anyone who wishes to share prayers to please call Connie Gates at 284-9110.  If you would like to be a part of our Casserole Crew or know of someone who could use an extra meal during a troubled time, please contact Marge Paulin at 284-9853.

Your involvement as ladies of St. Joseph goes beyond making cakes for our funerals and helping to wash dishes. Those tasks are important and we appreciate your support. However, please know that our organization – YOUR organization is bigger than that! Did you know that this past year we donated the calendars that were available for all parishioners? Did you know that we gave monetary gifts to Buckets For Hunger, Community Thanksgiving Dinner, St. Claire Mission, Casa Hogar, Madonna Plan, Interfaith Caregivers, Black River Hospice, Boys & Girls Club, Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Jackson County WI Right to Life, and offered a scholarship to one of our graduating seniors? Along with numerous other projects…

However you are able to participate, please remember that as a member of St. Joseph Parish you are also a member of our Parish Council of Catholic Women. Thank you for answering your phone willingly! Thank you for attending and supporting our functions! Thank you for paying your dues! Thank you for your prayers!  We invite you to share your ideas at our meetings, if you are able. Please watch the bulletin for upcoming events.

May God bless you and your families.

Jan Eckles, PCCW President
