Saint Lawrence Seminary - WI The overriding purpose for St. Lawrence’s existence is to promote, foster, and live principles and values announced in the gospel of Jesus Christ and articulated in the Catholic Church. Everyone at St. Lawrence Seminary is expected to cooperate with this purpose by accepting the promotion of the reign of God as the essential priority of the school, worked out in the present historical and cultural context. This priority flows more directly from some areas of St. Lawrence than from others. Academic activities, for instance, or some student activities, can have a legitimate secular purpose as their immediate end. However, ultimately, all areas of participation should contribute in some way, directly or indirectly, to the overriding purpose described above.

Saint John's School of Theology & Seminary - MN Since its founding in 1856 Saint John’s has been preparing priests for service to the Church. In the last half century this mission has broadened to include those preparing for other ministries. While intellectual endeavor is prized, personal faith development and vocational discernment are continually nurtured in this place where both mind and heart are understood to be necessary for service of God and neighbor. We do not presume that our graduates finish their studies with the conferral of a degree. The lifelong pursuit of wisdom, sustained within communities of faith, is at the heart of the monastic call and is our hope for all who study here. (Columba Stewart)
